This picture came from William G. Brown's "History of Alabama" published in 1900 and used in Alabama Schools. On page 106-108 he describes the
events leading up to the Battle of Fort Mims.

Another source of information is Dr. Lucille Griffth's
"Alabama- Documentary History to 1900"-available from The University of Alabama Press. On pages 107-111, she provides an account which was originally recorded in 1847 by A.J.Pickett one of our early Alabama Historians.
